2008 GR3 Wild Boar Road Kill
During our 2008 GR3 Rally in Soldiers Grove, arriving bikes spread the word that a Wild Boar had been killed just on the Highway just up the road, north of Reedstown. The two Jims (Rally Co-Chairs) took a break to check it out. Not something you'd want to hit on your bike! Later, I learned a local illegally imported 31 Wild Boars from Texas and set them loose. He eventually got caught, but oddly, not charged. Although the same guy did get a fine for illegally transporting Elk across state lines to Illinois!

Paralyzed from the chest down? That's no excuse for not riding!

Amazing. This is Jim. In his 70's and paralyzed from the chest down many years ago, he now gets around in a wheelchair. That hasn't stopped him from riding, putting 40,000 miles on this motorcycle / side car combination. Most of the them while living in Texas, but he still rides around Union Center, WI. In fact, he just had a new chain and spocket put on this Hondamatic 750 (2 speed automatic).
All the controls and steering column have been transferred to the side car. The back end has a short ramp that is folded down so that he can wheel himself in and pull up the ramp.

Schettl's Freight Sales
On a cycle trip to Door County in June 2006, I stopped at Schettl's Freight Sales, near Oshkosh, Wi. Several 'mixed breed' motorcycles on the grounds, including this very large part Schwinn, part Chevy, and part who knows what. Lots of fiberglass statues and weird things made out of scrap metal, etc. Most are for sale or rent. Look for the big Moose signs off Highway US 41. Here is one link that describes it. Jim Harms

Rustic Road #56
Start of Wisconsin Rustic Road #56 in Vernon County. Travel 8.6 miles to Ontario and you'll pass Amish farms, a round barn, and views of Wildcat Mountain State Park. From Ontario I took the very popular Highway 33. Excellent twisties for many miles!

AK: surrounded at 7,000 feet

This picture was taken on September 1, 2005 using an Olympus 410 digital camera. The location is highway 40 just west of Calgary, Alberta. We had just topped a pass at 7,250 feet and were headed down the other side when I came around a corner and saw these sheep. I pulled in the clutch and coasted up to the sheep not wanting to spook the flock. I need not have worried. The ram came up to me and nudged one hand as I was reaching for my camera. When he decided I had not treats in my hand he gave a few head butts to my dry bag behind me then joined the rest of the flock that was already surrounding Karen and John. -Edwin Burington .
